Work Philosophy
My work philosophy is to do the best every day and remind myself to learn from each experience in order to improve for the next task.
Career Goals
Short-term Goals:
-
Graduate with my Doctor of Optometry Degree in 2023
-
Build relationships with current ODs to learn more about the field before I enter as a full practicing optometrist
Long-term Goals:
-
Attend an optometry residency
Skills
Strengths:
-
Organized: I always write down tasks along with their due dates and prioritize based on due dates and length of the project.
-
Passionate: When I find something I enjoy, I dedicate much of my time to understanding it completely. I am open to new ideas, but I also do my best to inform others of the information I know. For example, I am interested in nutrition so whenever nutrition may pay a possible role in eye health I will research it outside of what is needed for class.
-
Detail-oriented: Being detail-oriented helps me to continually better myself and my knowledge. For example, I do my best to listen to all the details of a patient's history because sometimes the clue you need for a diagnosis can be very small.
Weaknesses:
-
Audience Awareness: I spend most of my time with people who are science-oriented and I easily forget to change explanations for the specific audience to understand. I am developing this skill by increasing the diversity of people I explain science information to. This is my weakness that I am focusing on the most right now because I will be seeing patients soon, and I need to explain their eye health to them in a way they can understand.
-
Business Information: I have taken multiple business classes to improve my business knowledge, but there is a lot of information to know. Currently, I am focusing on business in terms of optometry practices as this is directly pertinent to me because I may want to own my own practice in the future.
-
Artistic Creativity: I am not good at drawing or envisioning designs. However, I am improving this by looking at others' artwork and using templates to guide designs.
